Ataşehir removals
In Ataşehir, the move is shaped less by hills than by the entrance: gated-estate security, an office goods-lift booking or somewhere to stop near the Financial Centre. Our base in neighbouring Sancaktepe gives us an advantage for early loading.
We work in Ataşehir, the district (ilçe in Turkish) next to our base. According to the District Governorate, it is bordered by Sancaktepe to the east, Üsküdar to the west, Kadıköy to the south-west, Maltepe to the south and Ümraniye to the north, between the D-100 and O-2 ring road. The district was formed in 2008 from neighbourhoods (mahalle in Turkish) formerly belonging to Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Kartal and Ümraniye; it now has 17 neighbourhoods and an area reported as 25–26 km². The District Governorate describes two sides of Ataşehir: older settlements undergoing extensive urban renewal (kentsel dönüşüm of earthquake-risk buildings), and a newer area of high-rise homes and business centres. The Asian-side fruit and vegetable market is also in the district (source: Ataşehir District Governorate, Historical and Geographical Overview and Economic Situation, accessed 29.09.2026).
The road journey from our Sancaktepe base is about 11–16 km; Mevlana and Yeni Çamlıca are closest, and the Kozyatağı end is farthest. In free-flowing traffic, the drive takes 10–15 minutes; an early-morning departure is likely to be close to that time (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026).
Ataşehir map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations
The map shows the boundaries of all 17 neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, M4 and M8 metro stations, the M12 stations under construction and taxi ranks. Satellite view brings out the contrast between Atatürk and Barbaros, with wide but often one-way estate roads and car parks between blocks, and the denser plots and narrower streets in İçerenköy, Kayışdağı and Örnek.
Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
The categories are relative to Ataşehir's own neighbourhoods. The district is less steep overall than Üsküdar or Kadıköy; street layout and building type make more of a difference.

Computed on 2026-09-29 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).
The data translates into these moving-day considerations:
- Estates and blocks — Atatürk, Barbaros and Yenişehir: buildings with mapped heights average 7–11 storeys. In Atatürk, 53% of streets are one-way or narrow, but its 126 mapped car parks are by far the most in the district. The main considerations are the estate's moving hours, goods-lift booking and security registration; we provide the lorry number plate and team list in advance.
- Hilly inner neighbourhoods — Yenisahra, Aşık Veysel, Mustafa Kemal, Mimar Sinan, İnönü and Mevlana: average gradients are 6–10%, and 36–60% of streets are steep. In İnönü, a third of streets are one-way or narrow. Floor data is limited in most of these neighbourhoods, and no floor data is mapped in Mustafa Kemal, so we confirm the floor and lift at the address. On steep streets, we identify where an exterior lift can be set up and the distance for carrying by hand during the site visit.
- Areas with wider streets — Ferhatpaşa, Esatpaşa and Yeni Çamlıca: Ferhatpaşa has the easiest driving conditions in the district, with an average gradient of 3.5% and no one-way or narrow streets; its local road network is about 46 km, with close to 2,500 buildings. Only 2% of Esatpaşa's streets are one-way or narrow. Yeni Çamlıca's streets are two-way, with a moderate average gradient of 5.4%. As the lorry can reach most doors, we plan loading around the building entrance and lift.
- Dense and busy areas — İçerenköy, Küçükbakkalköy, Kayışdağı and Örnek: İçerenköy has the district's largest street network, about 52 km, and the most buildings, at 4,300; Kayışdağı has 37 km of streets and 2,900 buildings. Gradients are moderate (5.4–5.8%), but streets are dense and parking is busy. No mapped car parks are recorded in Örnek. We choose where the lorry can wait during the site visit. Kayışdağı's average gradient is close to the district average; residents describe steeper roads on the mountain-facing side, so we check the specific address.
Estates, offices and the Financial Centre area
A substantial share of our Ataşehir moves is to a gated estate or office building. In our experience, estate management teams generally ask to be notified in writing about a move, and some require a set time slot and a goods-lift booking. If a sofa or wardrobe will not fit in the lift, the management must approve an exterior lift. In offices, out-of-hours access, the loading bay and the goods lift queue matter; in buildings with divided ownership, a unit owner's permission may also be needed. İstanbul Financial Centre's offices are administratively in Finanskent neighbourhood, Ümraniye, but the centre sits alongside Ataşehir's Barbaros and Atatürk neighbourhoods. The centre says it has parking for 26,000 vehicles and capacity for 75,000 workers and visitors a day, adding pressure to surrounding roads (source: İstanbul Financial Centre, About and Contact, accessed 29.09.2026). For offices in this area, we start moves at the weekend or before 07.00 on a weekday.
İBB's LOGİS route-permit system applies across İstanbul to goods vehicles of 3.5 tonnes and over. We obtain this document for our vehicles; customers do not need to do anything (source: İBB LOTEM, LOGİS announcement, accessed 29.09.2026).
What residents say
Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.
- Atatürk, Barbaros
Residents most often mention traffic. The junction by Ülker Arena, where 3004th Avenue meets five roads and a car-park exit, is described as a morning and evening bottleneck. Since the Financial Centre and Technopark opened, finding on-street parking in the centre after 09.30 has become very difficult; East Ataşehir's low-rise estates and wide roads are described as the district's easiest area.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: ataşehir (2025-06 – 2026-09)
- Barbaros
Residents say that when the complex opened, public-bank and board staff arriving from Ankara settled in nearby districts, adding thousands of vehicles to Ataşehir's already heavy traffic. Some find the underground car parks maze-like, and people also report confusing directions because the shopping centre appears in the wrong place on maps.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: istanbul finans merkezi (2025-12 – 2026-09)
- Barbaros
Residents describe an area dense with high-rise estates and residences. After junctions were removed and streets made one-way, leaving an estate can involve a long loop, while thousands of vehicles are funnelled onto narrow connecting roads. This thread is old; more recent observations are under the district topic.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: batı ataşehir (2014–2019)
- İçerenköy
Residents say that since the new cultural centre opened without underground parking, it can take a long time to find a space in the evening. Buildings are generally older and awaiting renewal; behind Acıbadem University, detached homes and family apartment blocks are common. Because İçerenköy borders Kozyatağı, some addresses are given as Kozyatağı, and metro exits can also cause confusion.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: içerenköy (2023-06 – 2026-06)
- Küçükbakkalköy
Residents see the neighbourhood's strengths as its proximity to the metro, E-5 and coast. Vehicle access is limited on a pedestrianised avenue. Former detached-house plots have become apartment blocks, with extended families living in the same block; the concentration of small shops creates a narrow, busy market area.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: küçükbakkalköy (2018–2022)
- Kayışdağı, İnönü
Residents describe Kayışdağı as one of İstanbul's steepest areas. At the foot of the mountain, winters are harsh and windy, with icy conditions. New estates are found around Yeditepe University and older apartment blocks on the lower streets; people also mention temporary moves caused by new estate construction and renewal. Part of the neighbourhood lies in Maltepe.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: kayışdağı (2020-08 – 2026-07)
- Yenisahra
Residents associate the neighbourhood with urban renewal; although developers' signs appear on buildings, posts say projects can remain stalled for years. Inner streets are described as very steep and difficult to navigate, alongside congestion towards the E-5 and access to the M4 Yenisahra station.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: yenisahra (2016–2023)
- Ferhatpaşa
Residents say public transport is the district's weakest point and buses are crowded. Empty plots, old two-storey homes and workshops stand alongside new buildings; the neighbourhood is far from central Ataşehir.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: ferhatpaşa mahallesi (2019-11 – 2024-10)
- Mustafa Kemal
Residents say the avenue and street names are all in the 3000 range, which stands out when giving directions. The gecekondu-era fabric has quickly become apartment blocks and towers; in 2026, one resident wrote that older buildings already marked for renewal were still being rented out. The main public transport is by minibus.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: mustafa kemal mahallesi (2015–2016, 2026-08)
- Esatpaşa
Residents say the neighbourhood was planned, so its streets are spacious and almost all buildings are zoned for three storeys; groups of social-housing blocks are gradually becoming gated estates. Posts also mention a single-bus route to Kadıköy and Üsküdar, and rubbish being left in front of parked cars in the evening.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: esatpaşa mahallesi (2015 – 2026-03)
- Örnek
Residents say the neighbourhood has undergone renewal without parking or pedestrian routes being considered. They describe streets without pavements, unlit junctions where five or six roads meet, and narrow roads where two cars cannot pass side by side. New buildings are said to be three storeys, flats are small, and duplex lofts have sloping ceilings; traffic reportedly grinds to a halt during the school term.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: örnek mahallesi (2021-07 – 2026-09)
- İçerenköy
Residents say the concentration of offices and homes causes weekday congestion; Atatürk and İnönü avenues are usually blocked, and weekends are suggested for easier access. The eastern exits of Kozyatağı metro station lead towards İçerenköy, which can cause address confusion. Posts also say long-time residents are moving away as rents rise.

The moves we see most in Ataşehir
- Moves within estates and new-build handovers: Atatürk, Barbaros and Yenişehir; estate rules, goods-lift bookings and time slots are central to the plan.
- Offices: around the Financial Centre, Kozyatağı and the İçerenköy office corridor; we plan out-of-hours access, goods-lift queues and separate packing for archives and servers.
- One-person homes (1+1 and studios): especially employees moving to the Financial Centre; fewer belongings, a smaller vehicle and a two-person team.
- Family homes (2+1 and 3+1): we plan dismantling, packing and the estate's moving slot. A 2+1 has two bedrooms plus a living room; a 3+1 has three bedrooms plus a living room.
- Urban-renewal moves and storage: in Yenisahra, Mustafa Kemal, Aşık Veysel, İçerenköy and Örnek, belongings may need to stay in storage for months while a building is rebuilt; we plan the move and storage together.
You can check the volume of your belongings and a suitable vehicle size on our moving calculator.
After you move: registration, muhtarlık, municipality
You can register your residence through e-Devlet, Türkiye's online government portal, or at your neighbourhood muhtarlık, the local headman's office where residents register their address. Addresses for Ataşehir's 17 muhtarlık offices:

Ataşehir Municipality's service building is at No. 4 Şebboy Street, Barbaros neighbourhood. Its call centre is (0216) 570 50 00, and its WhatsApp complaints line is 0530 166 48 73. The Municipal Police and Cleaning Affairs Directorates can be reached through the same switchboard (source: Ataşehir Municipality, Contact and Municipal Police Directorate, accessed 29.09.2026). The District Governorate is at No. 9/3 Merdivenköy Road, Küçükbakkalköy neighbourhood (source: Ataşehir District Governorate, Contact, accessed 29.09.2026).
Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published rule or fee on the municipality's website for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road (accessed 29.09.2026); the Municipal Police regulations are available on the site as a PDF, but we do not make a claim without checking them. The municipality says on its Zabıta 360 page that parking violations are detected by cameras, so the lorry needs a space arranged in advance rather than being left in a second row (source: Zabıta 360, accessed 29.09.2026). On narrow streets, the best option is to ask the municipality on (0216) 570 50 00 in advance.
Old furniture, rubble and waste: the Cleaning Affairs Directorate says it collects household waste from all 17 neighbourhoods according to a schedule and takes renovation rubble and excavation waste to disposal sites, but we could not find a published timetable for household or packaging waste, or old-furniture collection. Containers have fill sensors, and collection vehicles go only to full containers (sources: Cleaning Affairs Directorate, former website and Smart Waste Collection, accessed 29.09.2026). We take away the boxes and packaging from your move; we can plan for old furniture during the site visit.
Public transport
The M8 Bostancı–Parseller line passes through the district: Küçükbakkalköy, İçerenköy, Kayışdağı and Mevlana stations take their names from Ataşehir neighbourhoods. The line runs 06.00–24.00, is entirely underground and connects with the M4 at Kozyatağı, Marmaray at Bostancı and the M5 at Dudullu. M4's Kozyatağı station is on the İçerenköy boundary, while Yenisahra station is next to the neighbourhood. Residents say the eastern exits at Kozyatağı open towards İçerenköy, which can cause confusion about the address (source: Metro İstanbul M8 and M4, accessed 29.09.2026). İBB's station layer shows the M12 Göztepe–Ümraniye line's Ataşehir and Yeni Sahra stations under construction; road narrowing around the works may affect a move.

Urban renewal
An İBB plan-note amendment for Ataşehir covers regulations concerning at-risk buildings in the approved master plans for Aşık Veysel, Barbaros, Mustafa Kemal and Yenisahra neighbourhoods (source: İBB Urban Transformation, Ataşehir plan note, accessed 29.09.2026). The municipality says planning work has accelerated in 12 neighbourhoods and that it has discussed working with KİPTAŞ. In İçerenköy, the 18th-article land-use process is being displayed in stages; the municipality-owned company ATABEL advised on the "Rational Renewal Model", first used at an estate in İçerenköy (sources: KİPTAŞ announcement, İçerenköy, eighth-stage public notice and Rational Renewal Model, accessed 29.09.2026). The municipality's Urban Transformation Directorate approves at-risk building reports and publishes separate rent-support document lists for owners, residential tenants and business tenants (source: Urban Transformation Directorate, former website, accessed 29.09.2026). We pack belongings from an at-risk building and move them into storage, then place them in the new building once it is ready.
Neighbouring districts
Ataşehir borders Kadıköy, Maltepe, Üsküdar, Ümraniye and Sancaktepe. For every move, we plan the time and team around the streets, floors and estate arrangements at both addresses. For the whole city, see our İstanbul removals page.
