Piano and safe removals
A piano is both heavy and delicate; a steel safe can put a strain on stairs, lifts and floors. We plan each move separately from ordinary belongings.
Piano and safe removals are two jobs planned separately from a home move. One combines weight with fragility; the other is almost entirely about weight. The owners of Atasoy Nakliyat have more than 25 years of experience in the sector; for loads like these, much of the work happens in the planning before moving day.
Piano removals
Upright and grand pianos are moved differently.
- An upright piano is moved vertically, never laid on its side; the key cover is closed and secured
- For a grand piano, the legs and pedal assembly are removed, and the body is placed on its side and secured
- The body is wrapped in blankets, its corners are protected, and it is secured so it cannot move in the vehicle
Pianos are sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, and may go out of tune after a move. We recommend letting the piano adjust to its new surroundings before asking a piano technician to tune it. When choosing its new position, keep it away from radiators, air-conditioning units and windows in direct sunlight.
Safe removals
Steel and cash safes can weigh hundreds of kilos. For this reason:
- Find out the safe's weight and dimensions in advance; these are usually on its label or in its documentation
- If it is fixed to a wall or floor, it must be detached first
- Check the building lift's weight limit; if it is not sufficient, consider the stairs or an exterior lift
- At the new address, check whether the floor can support the load, especially in older buildings and those with wooden floors
How the move is planned
Send us photos of the piano or safe, its make and model if known, both addresses, and the floor, stair and lift details at each end on WhatsApp. We will use this information to plan the team size and route, and organise the necessary equipment and crew. A piano or safe can move on the same day as the rest of your home; we make separate space for it in the vehicle and secure it independently.
What affects the price
The price depends on the type and size of the item, the floors, stairs and lift arrangements at both addresses, the distance, additional work such as dismantling or using an exterior lift, and the moving date.
Before the move
- Measure the route: doors, corridors, stair landings and the lift car
- Move rugs, vases and pictures out of the way
- Carry valuables from inside the safe yourself; do not share its combination or key details
Frequently asked questions
Can I play the piano straight after the move?
You can, but it may sound different. For a better tuning result, it is best to let the piano adjust to its new room first.
Can you move a safe while it is full?
We do not recommend it. The contents add weight and may shift during the move, damaging the safe or its lock. Moving it empty is safer for the item and its contents.
