Kadıköy removals
In Kadıköy, the difficult part of a move is often not the journey but the space outside the door: a narrow one-way street in Moda, building rules near Bağdat Avenue, or a high-rise block in Fikirtepe. We know all 21 neighbourhoods from the data and plan the day accordingly.
Kadıköy is on İstanbul's Asian side, bordering Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Maltepe and, across the water, Adalar. According to Kadıköy Municipality, the district has 21 neighbourhoods and covers 25.20 km²; its coastline runs for about 21 km from Haydarpaşa to Bostancı, across six hills (source: Kadıköy Municipality, Geographic Location, accessed 29.09.2026). This hilly coastal layout affects where we can load: on some streets a lorry cannot reach the door, so belongings must be carried from the end of the street or moved using an exterior lift.
The road journey from our Sancaktepe base to Kadıköy is 16–23 km; Bostancı is closer and central Kadıköy is farther away. In free-flowing traffic, the drive takes 15–20 minutes (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026).
Kadıköy map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations
The map shows the boundaries of all 21 neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, rail stations and taxi ranks. Select a neighbourhood to see its name, or a marker for more detail; satellite view shows the street pattern and building density.
Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
For each neighbourhood, we calculated the share of streets that are one-way or narrow, average gradient, the number of mapped car parks and average building height. Categories are relative to Kadıköy's own neighbourhoods: "steep" means steep on the Kadıköy scale.

Computed on 2026-09-29 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).
The table translates into practical choices for a move:
- Caferağa (Moda), Rasimpaşa (Yeldeğirmeni) and Osmanağa: 67–86% of the local street network is one-way or narrow. In Caferağa and Osmanağa, where floor data is sufficient, buildings average 4.6–4.9 storeys. The lorry may not be able to pull up outside; choosing a loading point during the site visit helps establish the carrying distance.
- Caddebostan, Suadiye, Erenköy, Göztepe and Feneryolu: around Bağdat Avenue, 59–77% of streets are one-way or narrow, and buildings average 7.8–9.1 storeys. Mapped parking is sparse in Erenköy and Suadiye, and no car park is recorded in Feneryolu. Agreeing the building management's loading hours and the loading point in advance helps prevent the lorry from waiting.
- Fikirtepe and Dumlupınar: buildings with known heights average 16.7–17.6 storeys; only 0–1% of streets are one-way or narrow. Booking a time in advance for the goods lift, building entrance and security registration helps prevent belongings waiting inside the block.
- Hasanpaşa, Koşuyolu, Acıbadem, Sahrayıcedit and Merdivenköy: average gradients are 5.3–7.5%. Identifying where the lorry can stop and the carrying distance to the entrance during the site visit helps us choose the right team size.
- Bostancı, Kozyatağı, 19 Mayıs, Eğitim and Fenerbahçe: street conditions vary from one address to another. Checking the vehicle and loading point against the address in advance reduces manoeuvring and waiting on moving day.
Ziverbey and Zühtüpaşa
Ziverbey is a locally used name for an area around Kızıltoprak; it is not a separate neighbourhood on the municipality's list of 21, and most of the area falls within Zühtüpaşa. Buildings in Zühtüpaşa with floor data average 2.5 storeys; 54% of its streets are one-way or narrow, and the average gradient is 3.9%. Marmaray's Söğütlüçeşme station is within the neighbourhood boundary. Choosing a place for the lorry to stop and letting neighbours know the loading time in advance makes the work easier on a narrow street.
What residents say
Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.
- Caferağa
One resident describes Moda's inner streets around Mühürdar, Esat Işık and Yoğurtçu Park as extremely narrow and almost continuously congested. They say reaching a door by vehicle is possible only at certain times, while public transport centres on the nostalgic tram, Altıyol and the ferry terminal.

- Caferağa, Osmanağa, Rasimpaşa
Around fifteen comments converge on the same point: attached buildings, streets too narrow even for two-way traffic, and kerbside parking on both sides make parking in central Kadıköy and Moda very difficult. Many turn to paid car parks by the shore or towards Acıbadem. The discussion is old (2005–2009).
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: kadıköy'de araba park etmek (2005–2009)
- Rasimpaşa
A few recent comments emphasise Yeldeğirmeni's attractive but old buildings; older posts mention steep slopes down to the quay and damp in older flats.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: yeldeğirmeni (2026-08)
- Fikirtepe
Commenters describe projects left unfinished for years, 20–30-storey towers built over the narrow, crooked street pattern of the former informal-settlement era, and completed blocks standing very close together: tall apartment sites reached by narrow approach roads.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: fikirtepe kentsel dönüşümü (2019–2025)
- Koşuyolu
A long-term resident lists traffic, parking, valet cars and ongoing construction among the neighbourhood's persistent problems, and says many old detached houses in Koşuyolu have given way to workplaces and cafés.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: koşuyolu (2026-02)
- Acıbadem
One commenter complains about poor vehicle access to the area and says traffic around Marmaray makes the situation worse.

- Sahrayıcedit
Comments describe congestion on Atatürk Avenue, more frequent wrong-way entries into one-way side streets, and ten-storey blocks replacing detached houses.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: sahrayıcedit (2022–2025)
- Merdivenköy
Comments mention demolition and construction continuing at night, growing traffic, and narrow roads from the village era still in use on the steep slopes towards the E-5.

The moves we see most in Kadıköy
- 1+1 and studio moves in Moda, Yeldeğirmeni and Acıbadem: we choose the vehicle size and carrying distance to suit the address, taking narrow streets and apartment entrances into account. A 1+1 is one bedroom plus a living room.
- Family homes (2+1, 3+1) in Caddebostan and Suadiye: we include the building management's loading hours and lift booking in the plan. A 2+1 has two bedrooms plus a living room; a 3+1 has three.
- Offices and shops in Kadıköy market and Osmanağa: work outside business hours and a separate packing plan may be needed for archives and equipment.
- Urban-renewal moves: in areas being redeveloped, especially Fikirtepe, belongings may need storage for a while; we plan the move and storage together.

Kadıköy Municipality's service building is at No. 2 Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Avenue, Hasanpaşa; its switchboard is (0216) 542 50 00. Residents use the municipality's Requests and Complaints portal and the Dijital Kadıköy app (source: Kadıköy Municipality, Contact, accessed 29.09.2026).
Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published specific rule or fee on the municipality's website for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road (accessed 29.09.2026). On busy, narrow streets, the best option is to ask the Municipal Police Directorate through the switchboard before moving day; we can clarify this together during the site visit.
Old furniture, rubble and waste collection days: we could not find current information on the municipality's website. For furniture collection and rubble, contact the Cleaning Affairs Directorate through the switchboard. Tell us if the move will leave unwanted belongings and we can plan accordingly.
Public transport
Kadıköy is a rail hub for İstanbul's Asian side: Marmaray, the M4 metro, M8 and the nostalgic tram have stations within the district; the M12 line is under construction. Kadıköy station connects with Şehir Hatları and İDO ferry terminals (source: Metro İstanbul M4). For a move, this matters because streets around stations are less suitable for loading during the morning and evening peaks; at these addresses, choosing the time affects how long the job takes.

Urban renewal and storage
İBB's 2022 plan-note amendment concerning buildings at risk in Kadıköy covers 19 neighbourhoods, including Fikirtepe (source: İBB Urban Transformation Directorate). While a building is being renewed, belongings may need to stay elsewhere for months. In that case, we can plan the move and storage together: belongings are packed and taken to storage, then moved into the new building once it is ready.
Neighbouring districts
Kadıköy's neighbours are Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Maltepe and, across the water, Adalar. For a move to or from one of these districts, we follow the same order: check the streets and floors at both addresses, agree the time, then plan the team. For the whole city, see our İstanbul removals page.
