Arnavutköy removals
Arnavutköy has separate moving clusters: the steep centre, Hadımköy industry and the northern villages. We choose the lorry route and loading point for the exact address.
Arnavutköy stretches from the Black Sea coast to Sazlıdere in north-western İstanbul. The District Governorate says that, after Nakkaş and Bahşayış were transferred to Çatalca, the district covers 450.28 km² and is İstanbul's fourth-largest by area (source: Arnavutköy history, accessed 30.09.2026). Municipality sources give different figures: 447 km², and 481.89 km² including the lake. We therefore use an approximate range of 450–480 km². Population figures also vary, from 312,000 to 358,000; the official neighbourhood count is 38 (sources: Local Authorities, Arnavutköy in figures, Settlement pattern, accessed 30.09.2026).
According to the municipality, built-up areas cover 70 km², or 13% of the district: Arnavutköy–Bolluca–Boğazköy–Haraççı–Taşoluk in the east, Hadımköy in the south-west and Durusu–Karaburun in the north-west are separate centres. Buildings are generally 4–6 storeys in the centre and 2–3 storeys on the outskirts. The municipality puts the hills at 150–200 metres, describes the south and west as gently undulating, and gives the forest share as 57% (sources: Settlement pattern, Regional ground structure, Geography and vegetation, accessed 30.09.2026). The centre is not on a main transport corridor: the main entrance is the Habipler–Arnavutköy road, with two lanes in each direction, while Hadımköy is close to the TEM (source: Arnavutköy transport, accessed 30.09.2026).
The car route from Sancaktepe to Arnavutköy is about 62–75 km, taking 55–60 minutes in free-flowing traffic. The southern station area is 62.1 km away, the centre 65.5 km and the north of the airport 74.6 km (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026). Our lorry uses Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, so the car route and journey time do not apply to it.
Crossing the Bosphorus: which bridge takes the lorry
For a Bosphorus crossing by lorry, the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges are not available; KGM's table shows Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge open to all vehicle classes. The Eurasia Tunnel tariff has no lorry class (sources: KGM Restrictions and Prohibitions, Eurasia Tunnel fares, accessed 30.09.2026). Residents mention construction and road conditions at the Hadımköy entrance; we choose the appropriate exit during the survey. We confirm a smaller vehicle's crossing separately, based on its vehicle class.
Arnavutköy map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations
The map has 39 neighbourhood polygons, while official lists have 38 neighbourhoods. Şamlar in İBB's boundary layer is not a separate neighbourhood in official lists; we retain its figures in the table but use 38 as the neighbourhood count. The muhtarlık layer has 38 buildings; the rail layer shows M11 and two central stations under construction.
Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
Categories compare neighbourhoods, but the same steepness label can describe different conditions on a central street and a village road. The local street network ranges from 3.6 km in Durusu to 76.4 km in İmrahor. The municipality lists its Hadımköy and Anadolu covered car parks as open 24/7 and closed to LPG vehicles; Merkez and Şehir Parkı car parks are also listed (source: Car parks, accessed 30.09.2026).

Computed on 2026-09-30 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).
What the figures mean on moving day:
- Steep central area — Yunus Emre, Anadolu, İslambey, Mustafa Kemal Paşa, Arnavutköy Merkez, Yavuz Selim and Nenehatun: the district's steepest area, with average gradients of 6.0–8.8% and 42–62% of streets classed as steep. Narrow or one-way streets make up 8% in Arnavutköy Merkez and 3% in Anadolu and İslambey; none are recorded in the others. Floor data is available for 6% of the 282 buildings in Arnavutköy Merkez, so we confirm the floor during the survey. Residents say parking in the centre is difficult; we position the lorry in advance and use a trolley for the final uphill stretch.
- The flatter edge of the centre — Hicret, Mavigöl, Atatürk and Karlıbayır: average gradients are 3.8–5.4%, and 20–37% of streets are steep; no one-way or narrow streets are recorded. Buildings with height data average around one storey; Mavigöl has data for 95% of its 419 buildings. This does not match the municipality's 4–6-storey description of the centre, so we verify each address. Karlıbayır covered market has lorry-capable parking, but the market day is not published (source: Karlıbayır Covered Market, accessed 30.09.2026). We check the loading area in advance on market days.
- Former town areas — Taşoluk, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak, Adnan Menderes, Fatih, Bolluca, Haraççı and Boğazköy İstiklal: average gradients are 4.0–7.2%, the steep-street share is 23–49%, and narrow or one-way streets account for 0–2%. Boğazköy İstiklal is the steepest in this group, at 29.2 km² and a 7.2% average gradient. Buildings with height data in Mehmet Akif Ersoy average six storeys. Bolluca has data for 75% of its 89 buildings, averaging one storey; no floor data is available for Adnan Menderes or Fatih. We confirm site permission, lorry height and lift suitability in advance.
- Hadımköy cluster — Hadımköy, Hastane, Ömerli, Deliklikaya and Yeşilbayır: average gradients are 4.1–5.3%, with a steep-street share of 24–37%. Narrow or one-way streets peak at 14% in Deliklikaya, the district's highest figure; the share is 4% in Ömerli and 1% in Hadımköy, with none recorded in Hastane or Yeşilbayır. Hadımköy is the cluster's centre, with 61.6 km of local streets, 200 buildings and 13 mapped car parks; buildings with height data average two storeys. Hastane has 235 buildings averaging one storey, while floor data is sparse or absent in Deliklikaya and Yeşilbayır. Residents say lorry traffic is heavy around the industrial area; we enter from the TEM and schedule loading outside the service-vehicle flow.
- Around the airport — İmrahor, Tayakadın and Yeniköy: average gradients are 4.6–6.0%, the steep-street share is 27–43%, and narrow or one-way streets account for 0–3%. İmrahor and Tayakadın have the district's two longest local street networks, at 76.4 km and 71.8 km; Tayakadın has the most car parks, at 24. Buildings with height data average 2.2–2.3 storeys in İmrahor and Tayakadın; data is sparse in Yeniköy. The District Governorate says the airport project covers these three neighbourhoods and about 12% of the district. As we share roads with airport traffic, we plan the time in advance.
- Villages and the coast — Karaburun, Durusu, Terkos, Balaban, Boyalık, Baklalı, Hacımaşlı, Yassıören, Dursunköy, Çilingir and Sazlıbosna: average gradients are 3.7–5.9%, the steep-street share is 19–42%, and narrow or one-way streets account for 0–1%. The lake and coastal area (Durusu, Balaban, Boyalık, Karaburun and Baklalı) is more undulating; the southern plateau villages average 3.7–4.4%. Durusu covers 0.36 km², compared with 45.9 km² in Balaban. Karaburun has 815 buildings, but very little floor data. For rural addresses, we confirm the route before setting out because of the longer distances and winter conditions.
What residents say
Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.
- Arnavutköy Merkez
Residents say that even years after becoming a district, there is still no well-formed square or walking route; parking in Merkez neighbourhood is very difficult, and the municipality points to paid parking as a solution.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: arnavutköy (2026-06)
- Arnavutköy Merkez, Mavigöl, Sazlıbosna
Residents report mass housing around Sazlıdere and land-filling work around Mavigöl; infrastructure is said to lag behind in some new housing sites. They describe stones, potholes, bumps and mud on the roads, with fog and icy patches in some areas.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: arnavutköy (2025-11 – 2026-03)
- Arnavutköy Merkez, Bolluca, Haraççı, Taşoluk
Residents say the three-lane entrance road opened in 2008 struggles with traffic from Kayaşehir, the airport and new housing, and that parking is difficult in the centre. One writer returning from the airport reports seeing road excavations and subsidence within the district.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: arnavutköy (2025-09)
- Hadımköy
One writer describes irregular building stock of three or four storeys across the district, a very large open lorry park in Hadımköy and heavy lorry traffic. They also warn about many stray dogs and sheep, goats and cattle potentially entering the airport road.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: arnavutköy (2025-09)
- Fatih
Posts say construction activity and mid- to upper-market housing options increased after the airport project. A Fatih neighbourhood resident writes that life is difficult without a metro, fixed broadband does not reach everywhere in the outer neighbourhoods, buses are infrequent and people go to Göktürk for social amenities.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: arnavutköy (2024-03 – 2025-03)
- Hadımköy
Hadımköy is described as a warehouse and factory area, with staff shuttles in the morning and evening and lorry traffic at other times. The Metrobüs stop named Hadımköy is said to be about a 20-minute drive from the neighbourhood; construction on the Northern Marmara Motorway between Başakşehir and Nakkaş is blamed for dust and potholes at the Hadımköy entrance, where articulated lorries are also said to be increasing.

- Hadımköy
Residents say farmland, industry, villa sites and a university campus sit side by side around Hadımköy, and that snow can arrive early in winter. They also report lorries occupying the right lane on two-lane roads.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: hadımköy (2019-01 – 2020-01)
- Bolluca
Residents say interest in Bolluca is growing; the area has a national garden, vacant plots and villa sites. Neo Gölpark is also mentioned as one of the neighbourhood's residential areas.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: bolluca (2022-05 – 2024-03)
- Haraççı
Haraççı is described as a neighbourhood far from the centre with a vehicle inspection station; aircraft approaching the airport pass overhead. It is said to have been a quiet corner until it joined the district in 2008, after which it became busier. Queues can form around the inspection station.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: haraççı (2022-01 – 2023-09)
- Deliklikaya
Residents say development is advancing towards Deliklikaya from the Bahçeşehir direction, with new road and building work continuing. The third phase of the Hadımköy KİPTAŞ housing project is also said to be in this neighbourhood.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: deliklikaya (2020-07 – 2021-04)
- Sazlıbosna
Residents say a large number of mass-housing developments are being built on the flat land around Sazlıbosna. Some writers expect handovers to continue until the end of 2027 and express concern about the quality of lakeside buildings and their effect on the water basin.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: sazlıbosna (2024-11 – 2026-05)
- Taşoluk
Residents describe Taşoluk as a former town with mass-housing blocks and nearby wind turbines. They say bus routes towards Cebeci and Edirnekapı provide transport.

The moves we see most in Arnavutköy
- New housing sites and mass-housing handovers: homes in Hadımköy, Deliklikaya, Taşoluk and Sazlıbosna, and villa sites in Bolluca and Haraççı; we confirm entrance permission and lift details in advance.
- Industrial, warehouse and workshop moves: the Hadımköy industrial area and Akpınar Industrial Zone in Yassıören; shelving, benches and archives need a separate team and vehicle plan.
- Moves near the airport: İmrahor, Tayakadın and Yeniköy; we choose the time around airport traffic.
- Single-person and studio homes (1+1): we choose a suitable vehicle and team for a smaller load. A 1+1 has one bedroom plus a living room.
- Family homes (2+1, 3+1): dismantling, packing and floor information determine the vehicle plan. A 2+1 has two bedrooms plus a living room; a 3+1 has three.
- Offices and shops: around Avlu34 in the centre and in Hadımköy; out-of-hours moves are preferred.
- Urban-renewal clearances and storage: İBB's risky-building planning note covers 29 neighbourhoods, and the municipality publishes parcel-level planning notices. Belongings from an emptied home can wait in storage and move to the new building in one delivery.
- Moves between the two sides of İstanbul: between the Asian side and Arnavutköy; the bridge restriction means we plan the route and departure time from the outset.

Arnavutköy Municipality's administrative centre is at No. 88 Kazım Karabekir Avenue, Taşoluk neighbourhood; the switchboard and WhatsApp line are 444 4 597, with opening hours 08.30–12.30 and 13.00–17.00. The Solution Centre takes requests by telephone, WhatsApp, email and e-municipality; e-municipality is open 24/7. There are additional service buildings at No. 4 Özcan Taşkınbaş Avenue, Hastane neighbourhood, for the Hadımköy area, and No. 60 Terkos–Karaburun Avenue, Durusu neighbourhood, for the Durusu area (sources: Contact, Solution Centre, Hastane neighbourhood, Durusu neighbourhood, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate is at No. 3 Akbaba Street in Taşoluk; according to the municipality's Taşoluk page, the Population, Cadastral and Finance Directorates are also in this neighbourhood (sources: Our district, Taşoluk neighbourhood, accessed 30.09.2026).
Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published rule or fee on the municipality's website for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road (accessed 30.09.2026). The Municipal Police Directorate lists preventing occupation of unauthorised areas and checking parking among its duties, but does not describe a separate process for removals (source: Municipal Police Directorate, accessed 30.09.2026). On the narrow streets in the centre, it is best to ask the Solution Centre before moving day.
Old furniture, rubble and waste collection days: Cleaning Affairs collects household waste from the 38 neighbourhoods on a schedule and collects manufacturing waste separately; no street-level collection day or old-furniture collection line is published. For rubble, use the Moloz Collection Request form in e-municipality: the application is assessed, a payment link is sent and the field team calls, so the service is paid and requires an application. Requests for electrical and packaging waste can also be made through e-municipality; the Zero Waste unit responds on WhatsApp at 0530 919 50 00. An Excavation Transport Acceptance Certificate is required for excavation waste (sources: Cleaning Affairs, Rubble collection request, Zero Waste contact, accessed 30.09.2026). We take away boxes and packing materials left on moving day; we plan for old furniture during the survey.
Public transport
Arnavutköy, Hadımköy and Taşoluk do not appear on Metro İstanbul's list of operating lines (source: All lines, accessed 30.09.2026). İBB's station layer shows M11 airport stations in the district (Yeni Havalimanı 1 and 2 in İmrahor, and Yeni Havalimanı 3 in Tayakadın), plus two stations under construction on the extension towards Halkalı (Arnavutköy Merkez and Mehmet Akif Ersoy). M11 is not a Metro İstanbul line, so there is no line page there; we could not verify station names or service times from an official page and report the layer as shown. The Sultangazi–Arnavutköy metro is listed as a Metro İstanbul project, with planned stations at Mescid-i Selam, Habibler, Fenertepe, Arnavutköy and Taşoluk, and a planned M11 interchange at Taşoluk (source: Sultangazi–Arnavutköy Metro Line, accessed 30.09.2026). For now, buses and minibuses provide public transport. Services from the centre and Taşoluk run to Eminönü (336), Mecidiyeköy (336M), Sefaköy Metrobüs (36AS), Metrokent (MK22) and Cebeci. From Hadımköy–Deliklikaya, routes go to TÜYAP (HT18), Avcılar Metrobüs (144A) and Mahmutbey Metro (144M); from Karaburun and Yeniköy, route 336K goes to Mescid-i Selam (source: İETT times and routes, accessed 30.09.2026). The centre is reached from Habipler road and Hadımköy from the TEM; if we are moving in both clusters on the same day, we split the route.
