Esenyurt removals

We handle home removals across Esenyurt, between the E-5 and TEM and north of the TEM. Planning follows three belts: Metrobüs sites beside the E-5, the site corridor north of the TEM (Esenkent, Gökevler and Koza), and the tightly packed centre of numbered streets between them. Our lorry from Sancaktepe crosses the Bosphorus via Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.

Esenyurt was established as a district on 22.03.2008 under Law No. 5747. According to the District Governorate, it borders Avcılar to the east, Büyükçekmece to the west, Başakşehir and Arnavutköy to the north, and Beylikdüzü to the south. It covers about 57 km²; the terrain is gently rolling, with no sea coast or forest. The District Governorate reports 43 neighbourhoods and a population of 1,003,905; the municipality also lists 43 neighbourhood muhtarlık offices. As most streets are numbered, when confirming an address we ask for both the neighbourhood and the street number (sources: Esenyurt District Governorate, History and Geographic Structure, Local Authorities, Esenyurt Municipality, Neighbourhoods and Muhtarlık Offices, accessed 30.09.2026).

The road journey from Sancaktepe to Esenyurt is about 62–65 km by car, taking 45–50 minutes in free-flowing traffic. In OSRM measurements, the neighbourhood-weighted centre is 62.4 km away, Akçaburgaz 63.0 km and Saadetdere 64.7 km. Traffic on the TEM and at Haramidere changes the journey time (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026). These car-route figures do not account for lorry restrictions, so we do not give a separate lorry distance or journey time.

Crossing the Bosphorus: which bridge takes the lorry

Lorries coming from İstanbul's Asian side use Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge: KGM closes the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges to lorries, and the Eurasia Tunnel tariff has no lorry class (sources: KGM restrictions and prohibitions, Eurasia Tunnel fares, accessed 30.09.2026). The lorry joins the TEM from the north; we reach Kıraç, Akçaburgaz and Esenkent from the motorway, and the E-5 neighbourhoods via the Haramidere link. Crossing options for smaller vehicles depend on their class; we confirm them during the site visit.

Esenyurt map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations

The map shows the boundaries of 43 neighbourhoods, 43 muhtarlık offices, the Ardıçlı, Esenkent and Esenyurt stations on the M7, which is under construction, and taxi ranks. The Esenkent and Aşık Veysel muhtarlık offices are in the same shopping-centre car park, and Gökevler's is in a residential block; when confirming an address, we also ask for the site and block. Satellite view distinguishes the E-5 sites, the central street pattern and the industrial plots north of the TEM.

Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood

The narrow, steep and high-rise labels below compare Esenyurt's 43 neighbourhoods with one another; in a district the Governorate describes as gently rolling, a neighbourhood classed as steep here may be moderate elsewhere. Gradients come from a surface model, so read them as a ranking. Floor data is not mapped at all for 27 of the 43 neighbourhoods; we confirm storeys at those addresses during the site visit.

Computed on 2026-09-30 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).

What the figures mean on moving day:

  • Along the E-5 and Metrobüs — Saadetdere, Güzelyurt, Cumhuriyet and Yeşilkent: İETT's 34G list assigns four stops to Esenyurt. Between 0–10% of streets are one-way or narrow; average gradients are 3.9–6.0%, with 23–41% of streets classed as steep. Saadetdere has 1,199 buildings in 0.35 km² and no mapped car park; in Yeşilkent, buildings with floor data (22%) average 27.9 storeys. Here, the key points are site management's moving hours, goods-lift booking and lorry access to the block; we reserve a stopping place in advance in Saadetdere.
  • The site corridor north of the TEM — Esenkent, Koza, Aşık Veysel, Gökevler, Ardıçlı and Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa: average gradients are 3.6–5.7%, with 22–39% of streets classed as steep. The share of narrow or one-way streets is 0–5% in most, but 44% in Koza. Floor data is recorded for 36% of buildings in Gökevler (average 31.8 storeys), 10% in Koza (23.1), 19% in Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa (15) and 8% in Aşık Veysel (7.6). There are 23 mapped car parks in Aşık Veysel and 10 in Esenkent; Ardıçlı has 16.8 km of streets and 535 buildings, with no floor data. Before moving day, we confirm the site entrance, goods-lift time and the lorry's turning space with management.
  • The centre and older street pattern — Merkez, Pınar, Balıkyolu, Süleymaniye, Talatpaşa, Namık Kemal, İnönü, Fatih and Yenikent; plus Zafer and Sultaniye: the nine central neighbourhoods range from 0.45–0.70 km² and 1,135–1,814 buildings; Zafer has 465 buildings across 1.64 km² and Sultaniye 797 across 0.53 km². Average gradients are 5.2–6.6%, with 34–46% of streets classed as steep. Narrow or one-way streets account for 0–9% in most, rising to 22% in Talatpaşa. Each neighbourhood has 0–3 mapped car parks. The municipal centre is in Zafer and the Municipal Police Directorate in Sultaniye. The municipality has also identified a parking problem in this area, making it important to choose the lorry's stopping point in advance; on narrow streets, we start loading early.
  • Steep neighbourhoods — Şehitler, Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Hürriyet, Üçevler, Yunus Emre, Piri Reis, Mehterçeşme, İncirtepe, Turgut Özal, İstiklal and Battalgazi: average gradients are 6.8–9.3%, and 48–67% of streets are classed as steep. Piri Reis has a 35% share of narrow or one-way streets; in the others it is 0–4%. Üçevler has 1,107 buildings, Yunus Emre 1,184 and İncirtepe 1,244; five buildings are mapped in Şehitler and two in Necip Fazıl Kısakürek. No car parks are mapped in any of them. In İstiklal, floor data covers 25% of buildings, averaging five storeys; Necip Fazıl Kısakürek has no floor data. During the site visit, we identify level ground for an exterior lift and a safe place for the lorry to wait.
  • Larger and industrial neighbourhoods — Akçaburgaz, Atatürk, Osmangazi, Orhan Gazi and Selahaddin Eyyubi: these cover 1.6–6.3 km². Akçaburgaz is the largest at 6.33 km², with 47.5 km of streets and 158 mapped buildings. Osmangazi has 33.5 km of streets and 87 buildings; buildings with floor data average 2.9 storeys, with coverage at 10%. In Orhan Gazi, 30% of streets are narrow; floor data covers 13% of its 200 buildings, averaging 11.2 storeys, and six car parks are mapped. Across these five neighbourhoods, gradients are 3.7–5.9%, with 18–39% of streets classed as steep. Around Akçaburgaz's industry and San-Bir Boulevard, ramps, forklifts and working hours all factor into loading plans.
  • Other neighbourhoods — Örnek, Çınar, Akevler, Mevlana and Akşemseddin: no narrow or one-way streets are mapped in Örnek and Çınar; their average gradients are 4.1% and 6.4%, and 45% of Çınar's streets are classed as steep. The municipality's shared underground car park closes on Saturdays and Sundays because of the market. In Akevler, 19% of streets are narrow; buildings with floor data (7%) average 27 storeys, and the municipality's underground car park has 110 spaces. Mevlana has a 3.9% gradient and 14% narrow-street share; Akşemseddin has 5.0% and 1%, with 390 buildings. The map labels Akevler as Akevler Mahallesi 7 sokak; we confirm the vehicle and parking location for each address during the site visit.

Urban renewal: little official detail, demolition continues

We could not find a project, planning note or reserve-area entry for Esenyurt on İBB's project list. The district appears only in the list of evacuations and demolitions for high-risk buildings; there is an entry dated 14.08.2025 for Yeşilkent, but no address is given (sources: İBB projects, Your safety is our priority, accessed 30.09.2026). The municipality's directorate list has no Urban Transformation Directorate, and the Disaster Affairs page does not explain the risky-building process. A demolition notice dated 23.09.2026 is an image, so we could not report its rules (sources: Directorates, Disaster Affairs, notice, accessed 30.09.2026). We move belongings from buildings at risk into storage and deliver them when the new flat is ready.

What residents say

Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.

  • Saadetdere, Güzelyurt, Cumhuriyet

Residents group Esenyurt with Beylikdüzü, Avcılar and Bahçeşehir as one of the city's most densely populated areas, with no metro or tram and heavy pressure on the Metrobüs and E-5 beyond Yenibosna. They also say delays to the Mahmutbey bypass linking the TEM to the Northern Marmara Motorway slow traffic beyond the tolls. The same discussion mentions unfinished tower sites where cranes have stood idle for years.

several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: esenyurt (2026-08 – 2026-09)

  • Merkez

Residents note that Esenyurt became the first district in Türkiye with an official population above one million, and that splitting it into three districts has been discussed. They repeat that a town once belonging to Büyükçekmece has become the country's most populous district, while the wait for a metro continues.

several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: esenyurt (2026-01 – 2026-05)

  • Merkez, Zafer

One resident describes the district between Beylikdüzü and Bahçeşehir as generally flat, with few hills. They say its urban layout is far from ideal but it is close to the growing western side of İstanbul, and that good public transport is its most urgent need.

    single opinion · ekşi sözlük: esenyurt (2025-01 – 2025-02)

  • Saadetdere, Güzelyurt

Someone looking for a home says they are viewing flats in residential sites built after 1999 near a Metrobüs stop, and find access along this corridor straightforward.

single opinion · ekşi sözlük: esenyurt (2025-07)

  • Zafer

The area around the new municipal building is considered relatively orderly and quiet, although heavy pedestrian crowds make walking difficult and residents say the actual population exceeds the official figure. Another writer asks which residential site to choose.

  • Akçaburgaz

Akçaburgaz, between Kıraç and the TEM, is described as belonging to Esenyurt despite often being mistaken for part of Hadımköy, with many large and small industrial businesses. Banks and petrol stations line San-Bir Boulevard, commonly called the Kıraç–Hadımköy road. Later posts mention potholes, high speed bumps and street names that differ between map apps.

  • Saadetdere, Güzelyurt

Residents say traffic is present at all hours on this stretch of the E-5 between Avcılar, Beylikdüzü and Esenyurt, with broken-down vehicles often occupying the right lane towards Beylikdüzü. They believe congestion will persist until the junction where the TEM road joins the E-5 is redesigned.

  • Merkez, Güzelyurt

Residents describe cramped parts of Esenyurt where buildings are barely an arm's length apart, construction on street corners and a high concentration of estate agents. People in Innovia and the large sites beside the E-5 are said to be relatively comfortable, with the streetscape changing within a few hundred metres on the way to the muhtarlık; Güzelyurt is called the most liveable neighbourhood. Someone who moved there later adds that the district is not as bad as its reputation, though driving is noisy and disorderly.

  • Yeşilkent, Esenkent, Akçaburgaz

Residents say the district boundaries appear confusing, with Avcılar and Esenyurt neighbourhoods seeming interwoven around the E-5; both districts also have neighbourhoods extending north of the TEM.

single opinion · ekşi sözlük: avcılar esenyurt beylikdüzü büyükçekmece (2022-04)

  • Esenkent, Ardıçlı, Merkez

Residents see the M7 extension as important for Bağcılar, Başakşehir, Avcılar and Esenyurt. Posts say the tunnels had been excavated and stations connected by the end of 2023, while work between Hastane and Tahtakale had not started by spring 2024. Later posts add that the line was still awaited in mid-2026 and its opening seemed a long way off.

The moves we see most in Esenyurt

  • Moves within sites and new-development handovers: Esenkent, Gökevler, Koza and the tower sites beside the E-5; arrange lorry entry, goods-lift booking and number-plate registration before moving day.
  • Single-person homes (1+1, studio): Saadetdere, Güzelyurt and Cumhuriyet within walking distance of Metrobüs stops; a smaller vehicle and a two-person team. A 1+1 has one bedroom plus a living room.
  • Family homes (2+1, 3+1): in the adjoining apartment blocks of Merkez, Pınar, Balıkyolu and Süleymaniye, dismantling, packing and a lorry stopping point are part of the plan. A 2+1 has two bedrooms plus a living room; a 3+1 has three.
  • Urban-renewal clearances and storage: belongings may need to stay elsewhere for months while a building is renewed; we plan the move and storage together.
  • Workshop, warehouse and industrial moves: the Akçaburgaz–Kıraç corridor and Haramidere Industrial Estate; discuss ramps, forklifts and out-of-hours work.
  • Offices and shops: workplaces around Doğan Araslı Boulevard and the shopping centres; weekend mornings may suit the move.
  • Moves between the two sides of İstanbul: from the Asian side to Esenyurt or the other way round; the bridge restriction means allowing more time in the day's plan than for other districts.

Esenyurt Municipality's main building is at No. 79 Doğan Araslı Boulevard, Zafer; its 444 0 411 call centre operates 24/7, and a WhatsApp line is listed on the home page. The Kıraç annex is at No. 72 Sanat Street, İstiklal. No opening hours are published (sources: Contact information, 24/7 Call Centre, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate is at No. 1 Deniz Gezmiş Avenue, Zafer; the Population Registry and Land Registry pages do not give an address (source: District Governorate contact, accessed 30.09.2026).

Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published rule or fee for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road. The Municipal Police regulation mentions pavement parking and excavation vehicles without documents, but has no separate provision for removal lorries. For a narrow street, you can ask the Municipal Police on 0212 620 59 08 or the call centre on 444 0 411 (source: Municipal Police Directorate, accessed 30.09.2026).

Old furniture, rubble and waste collection days: the Cleaning Affairs Directorate collects bulky waste on written request, according to its schedule and within one day at the latest; there is no separate old-furniture line. E-Moloz applications are online, but no conditions or fee are published. Waste and recycling collection times can be looked up by neighbourhood and street; the results page did not open on the day of research, so we cannot give a time (sources: Cleaning Affairs Directorate, E-Moloz, Waste collection times, accessed 30.09.2026). We collect the packing materials on moving day and can plan separately for belongings you will not be keeping during the site visit.

Public transport

Esenyurt has no operating metro or tram station. İETT assigns eight stops on the 34G route to the district; the Marmaray connection is at Küçükçekmece (sources: Metro İstanbul lines, İETT Metrobüs lines, 34G stop list, accessed 30.09.2026). The M7 extension under construction has stations named Esenkent, Ardıçlı and Esenyurt; Metro İstanbul gives no opening date or district details. The İBB layer places the stations in Ardıçlı, Koza and Merkez (source: M7 project page, accessed 30.09.2026). Because residents describe heavy morning traffic, we start loading early at E-5 addresses and choose the lorry's stopping point near building sites during the site visit.

Neighbouring districts

According to the District Governorate, Esenyurt borders Avcılar to the east, Büyükçekmece to the west, Başakşehir and Arnavutköy to the north, and Beylikdüzü to the south. Pages for all five: Avcılar, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Başakşehir and Arnavutköy. We plan each move the same way: check the streets and floors at both addresses, agree the time, then plan the team. For the whole city, see our İstanbul removals page.
