Bahçelievler removals
Three things shape the move-day plan in Bahçelievler: the narrow one-way streets in Zafer and Fevzi Çakmak; the double-parked cars residents describe from Şirinevler to Siyavuşpaşa; and demolition and construction traffic in every neighbourhood. If you are moving from the Asian side, we also need to plan which bridge the lorry can use.
We work across Bahçelievler, a busy district on İstanbul's European side. The District Governorate lists 11 neighbourhoods; the 2018 ADNKS population was 594,053, with Zafer the most populous and Fevzi Çakmak the least populous. Apartment blocks began to rise after 1978. The Kocasinan and Yenibosna municipalities joined Bakırköy in 1984, and the district separated in 1992 (sources: District population, history, accessed 30.09.2026). As we could not find official area or neighbouring-district data, we calculated boundaries from the map: the 11 neighbourhood polygons cover approximately 16.6 km² in total. The district has no coastline. It borders Bakırköy to the south, Güngören to the east, Bağcılar to the north and Küçükçekmece to the west. A mahalle is a neighbourhood.
The car-route distance from our base in Sancaktepe to Bahçelievler is approximately 42–46 km: Mehmet Akif is the nearest point at 41.8 km, and the district's centre of gravity is 45.9 km away. In free-flowing traffic, the same car profile gives an estimated 35–40 minutes; an early-morning departure is likely to stay close to that range (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026). This calculation is for a car using either 15 Temmuz Şehitler or Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. Our lorry uses Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, so its route is longer; we do not quote a separate lorry distance or journey time.
Crossing the Bosphorus: which bridge takes the lorry
For moves between İstanbul's two sides, the vehicle class determines the route. According to KGM, lorries cannot use 15 Temmuz Şehitler or Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges; Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is open to all vehicle classes. The Eurasia Tunnel toll table has no lorry class (sources: KGM, Eurasia Tunnel, accessed 30.09.2026). The lorry travels around the north of the city and approaches via TEM–Basın Ekspres or D-100; we choose the route to suit the loading time.
Bahçelievler map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations
The map shows the boundaries of 11 neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations and taxi ranks. The İBB layer still marks some M9, M3 and M1B points as under construction. In satellite view, Yenibosna's large plots contrast with the dense apartment fabric of Siyavuşpaşa, Hürriyet and Zafer.
Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
The categories are relative to Bahçelievler's own 11 neighbourhoods. Street, building and parking data comes from the OSM extract dated 28.09.2026; gradients were calculated from Copernicus DEM GLO-30. Average gradients exceed 6% in seven neighbourhoods; street width and parking are the more important distinctions for a move.

Computed on 2026-09-30 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).
Here is what the profile means on moving day:
- Areas dominated by narrow or one-way streets — Zafer, Fevzi Çakmak, Hürriyet and Siyavuşpaşa: 23–49% of streets are narrow or one-way; the figures are 49% in Zafer and 48% in Fevzi Çakmak. In Hürriyet and Siyavuşpaşa, 52% of streets are steep; average gradients are 6.6% and 7.6% respectively. Siyavuşpaşa has 2,121 buildings and Hürriyet 1,685; where floor data is known, the averages are 6 and 5.6 storeys. There are no mapped parking areas in Hürriyet, two each in Siyavuşpaşa and Zafer, and four in Fevzi Çakmak. Floor data is insufficient for Zafer and Fevzi Çakmak. To avoid blocking a narrow street with the lorry, we plan an early start and, where needed, a transfer using a smaller vehicle.
- Hilly but wider streets — Cumhuriyet, Kocasinan Merkez, Soğanlı and Çobançeşme: the share of narrow or one-way streets is 3–8%; average gradients are 6.2–6.8%, and 40–44% of streets are steep. Kocasinan Merkez has 40.1 km of local streets and 850 buildings; the average storey count where known is 5.1. Floor data is insufficient for the other three neighbourhoods. There are no mapped parking areas in Soğanlı, one in Cumhuriyet, five in Kocasinan and seven in Çobançeşme; Çobançeşme has the fewest buildings, at 199. Even if the lorry can reach the door, we need to choose a stopping point on the slope in advance and account for the parking pressure residents describe in Soğanlı.
- The square and interchange area — Şirinevler: 16% of streets are narrow or one-way; the average gradient is 6.3%, and 48% of streets are steep. There are 1,741 buildings, an average of 5.7 storeys where floor data is available, and four mapped parking areas. Residents say the square and connecting streets are busy with interchange traffic throughout the day, while the inner streets are quieter but narrow. We choose a loading point on a side street away from the square and schedule an early start.
- Flatter, wider areas — Bahçelievler Mahallesi and Yenibosna Merkez: average gradients are 4.1% and 4.8%, and 23% and 30% of streets are steep. Bahçelievler Mahallesi stands out with 3.2 km², 1,817 buildings and 21 parking areas; the average storey count where known is 4.8, and 22% of streets are narrow or one-way. Yenibosna Merkez is the largest neighbourhood at 4.4 km²; 5% of its streets are narrow or one-way, and it has 12 parking areas and 485 buildings. Floor data is insufficient, though high-rise office buildings are present. On moving day in Yenibosna, we plan the goods-lift slot and junction traffic.
What residents say
Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.
- Bahçelievler, Şirinevler, Zafer
Residents describe the district as one large building site: dug-up streets, dust, mud, piles of rubble at street corners and almost daily demolitions. Someone who has lived there for 30 years counts around ten construction sites and five buildings awaiting demolition near home, and mentions the parking shortage. Another post says demolished plots are used as temporary car parks until foundation work begins.

- Bahçelievler
Posts describe three to five demolished or soon-to-be-demolished blocks on many streets, damaged roads and renewal expected to take years. One tenant says water pipes often burst after nearby demolitions; another describes gardens turned into car parks and new buildings going up without underground parking. Traffic around 4th Avenue crawls at weekends.

- Soğanlı, Kocasinan Merkez, Yenibosna Merkez, Siyavuşpaşa
A driver writes that there are no sound roads left in the district and that every street has a construction site. A former resident describes Soğanlı, Kocasinan, Yenibosna and Siyavuşpaşa as middle- and lower-income neighbourhoods later incorporated into the district, and notes that Londra Asfaltı and the Edirne road cross it, alongside a concentration of shopping centres and hospitals.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: bahçelievler (2025-06 – 2025-12)
- Şirinevler
One resident says the inner parts are quiet apart from the square and streets leading to it, and that people priced out of Ataköy moved into the area in the 1980s and 1990s. A former tenant likens the area around 13th Street to a concrete maze; posts describe narrow, busy side streets and noise throughout the day.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: şirinevler (2025-04 – 2026-08)
- Şirinevler
The area is described as an interchange, with buses from the square serving almost every direction, including the Bakırköy seafront. Posts say İBB resurfaced and landscaped the square in early 2024, though prefabricated market stalls still occupy it. The back streets are winding, and a footbridge connects to Ataköy.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: şirinevler (2023-10 – 2024-04)
- Yenibosna Merkez, Çobançeşme
Residents complain that changing levels at Yenibosna station during the M9 connection means going back up to street level, and mention faulty escalators. They describe the higher sections of Mahmutbey, Çamlık, Fatih and Yıldırım Beyazıt avenues as firm ground; corner buildings on the avenues are entering renewal, while narrow plots make consolidation and rebuilding difficult. A lack of trees and heavy traffic are also mentioned.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: yenibosna (2022 – 2025-12)
- Yenibosna Merkez
Residents say station renovation took almost a year, the footbridge exits opened in stages and the side by the DIY store remained closed for months. They also report overcrowding inside the stop towards Beylikdüzü between 18.00 and 19.00.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: yenibosna metrobüs durağı (2024-12 – 2025-06)
- Siyavuşpaşa
Posts describe narrow streets filled with cars parked two deep and residents returning from work unable to find a space. One resident says part of the area known as Yayla belongs to Siyavuşpaşa, noting its proximity to the Metrobus and bus access via D-100 and inner roads. A former resident describes post-2005 developer-led construction as the area's concretisation.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: siyavuşpaşa (2023-05 – 2024-12)
- Soğanlı
Soğanlı is described as Bahçelievler's neighbourhood closest to Bağcılar, with apartment blocks and homes packed tightly together. Several writers say driving is difficult and finding a parking space almost impossible; one resident of 25 years wonders how people with cars put up with it.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: soğanlı (2018-11 – 2025-03)
- Şirinevler, Kocasinan Merkez, Zafer
Residents say cars parked in the right lane and vehicles stopped in the next lane reduce the road from Şirinevler towards İSTOÇ to a single moving lane. They mention the number 97 bus and the risk of a parking fine for stopping on the pavement or roadside.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: mahmutbey caddesi (2019-07 – 2021-09)
- Zafer, Siyavuşpaşa
Residents describe the boulevard, formerly known as Londra Asfaltı, as a route between Ataköy and Güngören. They say the Yayla stretch between Talatpaşa Avenue and the monument is busy, with shops, restaurants, hospitals and petrol stations, as well as noise and minor accidents.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: adnan kahveci bulvarı (2005 – 2015)
- Yenibosna Merkez, Çobançeşme
Drivers describe heavy traffic, fast and aggressive driving, poor lighting and sudden merges at junctions. They identify the shopping centres and İkitelli area as bottlenecks, and say there was no alternative when the road closed for maintenance one day.

Urban renewal: demolition and construction on the same street
An İBB planning-note amendment for kentsel dönüşüm — urban renewal of earthquake-risk buildings — covers 10 neighbourhoods under the 2008 Bahçelievler Merkez–Yenibosna–Kocasinan plan; Bahçelievler Mahallesi is not on the list. We found no district-specific İBB project, reserve area or liaison office (source: İBB planning-note amendment, accessed 30.09.2026). According to a municipality news item dated 29.09.2026, 51,221 independent units had been renewed since 2019; in the first eight months of 2026, 1,190 buildings were demolished, 710 building permits were issued and an online tracking system was set up (source: Municipality news, accessed 30.09.2026). Residents' accounts of dust, rubble and closed streets may also affect the route. Belongings from a building being vacated can stay in storage and be moved again when the new building is ready.
The moves we see most in Bahçelievler
- Moves between İstanbul's two sides: in either direction between the Asian side and Bahçelievler; the lorry's route via Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge shapes the day.
- Urban-renewal clearances and storage: according to the municipality, more than 1,000 buildings were demolished in the first eight months of 2026. Clearance and return moves are among the work we see most often; belongings may stay in storage for months, so we can plan the move and storage together.
- Single-person and studio flats (1+1): around Şirinevler and the metro; a 1+1 means one bedroom and a living room. We plan a smaller vehicle, a two-person team and an early start.
- Family homes (2+1, 3+1): in dense neighbourhoods such as Zafer, Siyavuşpaşa and Kocasinan; dismantling, packing and transferring from a suitable point on the street are part of the plan. A 2+1 has two bedrooms and a living room; a 3+1 has three bedrooms and a living room.
- Offices and high-rise buildings — Yenibosna, Basın Ekspres: we arrange the goods lift and building-management slot, often outside business hours, and avoid peak traffic at the Basın Ekspres and E-5 junctions.
- Workshops and shops — Çobançeşme industrial area: shelving, counters and machinery need separate securing; loading is often planned for a weekend morning.

Bahçelievler Municipality's main building is at No. 9 Barbaros Avenue, Şirinevler neighbourhood. Its call and reporting line is 444 0 311, its WhatsApp line is 444 69 89, and its additional service building is at No. 48 Sanayi Avenue, Çobançeşme neighbourhood ((0212) 484 38 00). Opening hours are 08.30–12.30 and 13.00–17.00; requests and complaints are accepted through the online application service and BiHayat Mobil (sources: Service buildings, Requests, suggestions and reports, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate is also in Şirinevler, at No. 11/3 Barbaros Avenue (source: District Governorate contact, accessed 30.09.2026).
Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published rule or fee on the municipality's website for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road (accessed 30.09.2026). The Municipal Police Directorate's service standards page lists only complaint applications and inspection-log procedures. A municipal orders and prohibitions PDF is on the site, but we have not verified its contents and do not make a claim about its requirements (sources: Municipal Police Directorate, Orders and prohibitions, accessed 30.09.2026). For neighbourhoods with narrow streets, it is safest to ask the municipality on 444 0 311 before moving day.
Old furniture, rubble and waste collection days: the municipality's cleaning page describes daily cleaning and waste management in general terms, but does not publish household or packaging-waste collection days, rubble drop-off or a collection line for old furniture. The website shows a "Digital Cleaning" service, but we could not confirm that it accepts requests to collect old furniture (sources: Cleaning services, Digital Cleaning, accessed 30.09.2026). Relevant departments are Cleaning Affairs and Climate Change and Zero Waste. We collect the boxes and packing materials left after the move; we make a separate plan for old furniture during the site visit.
Public transport
On the M1A Yenikapı–Atatürk Airport line, Bahçelievler, Ataköy–Şirinevler and Yenibosna stations serve the district. The line runs from 06.00 to 24.00, and all three stations connect with the Metrobus (source: Metro İstanbul M1A, accessed 30.09.2026). The M9 Ataköy–Olimpiyat line meets the M1A at Yenibosna, then runs north from Çobançeşme towards the Basın Ekspres and İkitelli industrial corridor. The Ataköy–Bahariye section opened on 18.03.2024, and the line runs from 06.00 to 24.00 (source: Metro İstanbul M9, accessed 30.09.2026). The M3 has no operating station within the district; the nearest operating stops are İncirli and Haznedar in neighbouring districts (source: Metro İstanbul M3, accessed 30.09.2026). The İBB station layer also shows M1A Bahçelievler and the T1 tram's Mehmet Akif and Merter Tekstil Merkezi stops within the district, as well as M9 stops still labelled under construction, the M3 extension under construction and M1B stations. The list below comes from that layer. Residents describe evening crowds around Şirinevler Square, the Yenibosna footbridge and Metrobus stops along E-5, so we avoid loading at those times; an early start matters more than usual here.
