Silivri removals
In Silivri, the D-100 centre, summer-home sites on the Sea of Marmara and the Thracian villages need separate moving plans. We choose a place for the lorry to stop based on the address.
Silivri is on the Sea of Marmara at İstanbul's westernmost edge, 67 km from the provincial centre according to the District Governorate. Büyükçekmece is to the east, Çatalca to the north, Çorlu, Marmara Ereğlisi and Çerkezköy in Tekirdağ to the west, and the Sea of Marmara to the south (source: Geographic location, accessed 30.09.2026). The municipality gives the area, including farmland, as 860 km²; hills do not exceed 60 metres, and the land rises to the north (source: Silivri, accessed 30.09.2026). The municipality lists 35 muhtarlık offices; Çanta, Değirmenköy and Kavaklı are each divided into two neighbourhoods. As the District Governorate does not publish a population figure, we do not give one (source: Our muhtarlık offices, accessed 30.09.2026).
The car route from Sancaktepe to Silivri is about 98–128 km, taking 70–85 minutes in free-flowing traffic. Ortaköy is 97.8 km and 71 minutes away, the centre 118 km, and Değirmenköy Fevzipaşa 128 km (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026). Our lorry uses Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, so the car route and time do not apply to it.
Crossing the Bosphorus: which bridge takes the lorry
For a Bosphorus crossing by lorry, the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges are not available; KGM's table shows Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge open to all vehicle classes. The Eurasia Tunnel tariff has no lorry class (sources: KGM Restrictions and Prohibitions, Eurasia Tunnel fares, accessed 30.09.2026). The lorry crosses in the north and heads west. The D-100 and TEM pass through the district; KGM's motorway page does not name Silivri or Kınalı, so we choose the exit during the survey based on current road conditions (sources: Geographic location, KGM motorways, accessed 30.09.2026).
Silivri map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations
The map has 35 polygons, the same count as the municipality's muhtarlık list; the muhtarlık layer shows 35 buildings. The rail layer is empty within the district. The centre follows the D-100, housing sites line the coast and villages extend north.
Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
The categories compare Silivri's 35 neighbourhoods. In 27, the share of narrow or one-way streets is zero; it is 41% in Piri Mehmet Paşa and 15% in Alibey. Average gradients exceed 5% only in Alibey, Fatih and Piri Mehmet Paşa. Yeni Mahalle has 64 mapped car parks, 29 of them. As floor data is available for more than 2% of buildings only in Ortaköy, we confirm building heights during the survey.

Computed on 2026-09-30 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).
What the figures mean on moving day:
- The old centre and top of the escarpment — Piri Mehmet Paşa, Alibey and Fatih: the smallest neighbourhoods cover 0.456–0.642 km²; average gradients are 5.5–6.2%, and steep-street shares are 36–41%. The District Governorate says the first town was built on the 56-metre hill in today's Fatih neighbourhood (source: History, accessed 30.09.2026). Narrow or one-way streets account for 41% in Piri Mehmet Paşa, 15% in Alibey and 1% in Fatih. Street networks range from 8.7 to 12.3 km; the building counts are 834, 414 and 291, with no floor data. Where the lorry cannot enter, we complete the final stretch with a smaller vehicle.
- The wider centre along the D-100 — Yeni Mahalle, Mimar Sinan, Cumhuriyet and Alipaşa: the centre extends along these neighbourhoods (source: Silivri, accessed 30.09.2026). Average gradients are 2.9–4.9%, and steep-street shares 9–25%; Cumhuriyet is the steepest, Mimar Sinan and Alipaşa the flattest. Narrow streets account for 2% in Yeni Mahalle, 1% in Mimar Sinan and Alipaşa, and none in Cumhuriyet. Street networks range from 43.6 to 86.8 km; there are 2,746 buildings in Mimar Sinan, 756 in Yeni Mahalle, 470 in Alipaşa and 40 in Cumhuriyet. Yeni Mahalle has 29 car parks and Mimar Sinan 10. The municipality reports roadworks on a 950-metre stretch of Özgürlük Avenue and on Yeni Mahalle's 7035th Street (sources: Özgürlük Avenue improvements, Roadworks in Yeni Mahalle, accessed 30.09.2026). Residents mention potholes on some roads; we check the construction route on moving day.
- The eastern coast, former towns and summer-home sites — Selimpaşa, Ortaköy, Kavaklı İstiklal, Kavaklı Hürriyet, Çanta Balaban and Çanta Sancaktepe: the street network is 182.6 km in Selimpaşa, 116.4 km in Çanta Balaban and 88.7 km in Ortaköy; the shortest is 36.4 km in Kavaklı Hürriyet. Average gradients are 2.1–3.9%, and steep-street shares 4–24%. Kavaklı İstiklal is the flattest and Çanta Sancaktepe the most undulating; only Selimpaşa has narrow streets, at 1%. Selimpaşa has 955 buildings, Çanta Sancaktepe 834 and Çanta Balaban 165; the other three have 18, 5 and 2. The municipality says the main-road links to summer-home sites have been asphalted (source: Silivri, accessed 30.09.2026). Residents describe older buildings and summer crowds in Selimpaşa. We confirm site permission and lorry dimensions, then choose a weekday morning.
- The western coast — Semizkumlar and Gümüşyaka: average gradients are 3.5–3.7%, and steep-street shares 16–18%; street networks are 57.6 and 109.2 km. There are 2,595 and 566 buildings, one car park in each neighbourhood and no floor data. Residents say detached homes with gardens remain in Gümüşyaka, a bridge has been renewed and the centre is far away; on Sundays, cars fill the coast. For summer-home moves, we check turning space during the survey.
- Inland — former towns and villages — Değirmenköy Fevzipaşa, Değirmenköy İsmetpaşa, Büyük Çavuşlu, Beyciler and Kadıköy: average gradients are 2.2–3.4%, and steep-street shares 6–18%. Kadıköy has a 4% narrow-street share; the others have none. Street networks range from 22.9 to 72.2 km. Beyciler has 1,132 buildings, Büyük Çavuşlu 320, İsmetpaşa 178, Fevzipaşa 147 and Kadıköy 6; no car parks are mapped. Residents say factories around Değirmenköy employ people from outside the area; we plan staff-housing and workshop moves accordingly.
- Villages in the Çeltik–Seymen planning area — Çeltik, Seymen, Büyük Kılıçlı, Küçük Kılıçlı, Yolçatı and Fener: İBB's planning note lists them in the same group as Büyük Sinekli (source: Silivri risky-building planning-note amendment, accessed 30.09.2026). Average gradients are 2.4–3.1%, and steep-street shares 4–14%. Küçük Kılıçlı is among the district's flattest; Seymen is the hilliest in this group. No narrow streets are recorded; street networks range from 10.3 to 56.6 km. Fener has 177 buildings, Seymen 166, Çeltik 100, Büyük Kılıçlı 72, Küçük Kılıçlı 61 and Yolçatı 24; no car parks are mapped. We plan the route in one run because of the long distances between villages.
- Villages in the Çayırdere–Kurfallı planning area — Çayırdere, Sayalar, Danamandıra, Küçük Sinekli, Büyük Sinekli, Bekirli, Kurfallı, Akören and Gazitepe: İBB's plan lists eight neighbourhoods here; Büyük Sinekli is mentioned here for its geographic proximity, although it appears in the other group. Areas range from 15.619 to 60.134 km²; average gradients are 2.2–4.6%, and steep-street shares 5–27%. Küçük Sinekli is the flattest and Akören the most undulating. Street networks range from 2.8 to 49.8 km, with no narrow streets recorded. Çayırdere has 2,343 buildings, Sayalar 617, Akören 48, Kurfallı 34 and three neighbourhoods have five each. Danamandıra is the only one with a mapped car park. We set out to distant villages with one route and vehicle plan.
What residents say
Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.
- Yeni Mahalle, Piri Mehmet Paşa, Alibey, Mimar Sinan
Residents say parking in the centre becomes difficult in summer and at weekends, and resurfacing towards İstanbul has made traffic around the new viaduct confusing. They mention housing sites built on farmland and deep potholes in Yeni Mahalle, as well as a difficult Metrobüs connection and a long journey to the city centre.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: silivri (2026-07 – 2026-09)
- Selimpaşa
Selimpaşa is described as a charming coastal town with many 19th-century buildings, quiet in winter and crowded in summer. Posts mention the port, coast and night market, and note that Kadir Has University's campus is by the sea: the older character and summer crowds sit side by side.

- Selimpaşa
An older post says visitors to the public beach who did not want to pay for parking filled every available space in front of summer homes at weekends, leading to disputes; it adds that gated housing sites have their own separate beach.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: selimpaşa (2002-12)
- Gümüşyaka
Residents say travelling between Gümüşyaka and Silivri centre is a long, inconvenient trip; some summer-home owners say they regret it by the end of the season. Single-storey houses with gardens are said to remain, and the old metal bridge has been replaced.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: gümüşyaka (2024-03 – 2026-04)
- Gümüşyaka
An older post says day-trippers fill the side streets and coast with cars on Sundays, and summer-home owners are advised not to leave home that day; access and parking problems continue on summer weekends.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: gümüşyaka (2010-03)
- Değirmenköy Fevzipaşa, Değirmenköy İsmetpaşa
Posts say minibuses leave the village for Silivri every 20 minutes, while after 20.00 only the Çorlu–Silivri shared taxis remain; Çorlu buses bound for İstanbul's coach station stop at the village entrance. They describe dozens of factories on the village boundary and a workforce largely arriving from elsewhere.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: değirmenköy (2016-07)
- Değirmenköy Fevzipaşa, Değirmenköy İsmetpaşa
Posts mention a fountain, an abandoned church and a lake farther along the village road, describing the settlement as quiet and peaceful. A few new markets and an additional service building have opened, but its character as a small Thracian town is said to remain.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: değirmenköy (2024-08)
- Büyük Sinekli, Küçük Sinekli
Residents describe the two separate Sinekli villages, the road towards Danamandıra, a small lake and a disused former railway station as features of the rural area.

The moves we see most in Silivri
- Opening and closing summer homes: seasonal moves at coastal housing sites in Selimpaşa–Gümüşyaka.
- Family homes (2+1, 3+1): flats in Yeni Mahalle, Mimar Sinan and Selimpaşa; dismantling and packing are part of the plan. A 2+1 has two bedrooms plus a living room; a 3+1 has three.
- Single-person and studio homes (1+1): a suitable vehicle and team for smaller flats in the centre. A 1+1 has one bedroom plus a living room.
- Urban-renewal clearances and storage: the municipality's urban-renewal portal says fieldwork after the 2019 earthquake found sea sand and corrosion in buildings constructed between 1980 and 2000; 48 independent units were demolished at Esentepe Öğretmenler Sitesi in Cumhuriyet neighbourhood (sources: Urban-renewal process, Esentepe Öğretmenler Sitesi, accessed 30.09.2026). Belongings from an emptied flat can wait in storage and go to the new building in one delivery.
- Village and detached homes: former village neighbourhoods, Değirmenköy and Büyük Çavuşlu; including garden belongings.
- Industrial, workshop and staff-housing moves: shelving, benches and archives for factories around Değirmenköy.
- Offices and shops: early starts on central streets, avoiding market times.
- Moves between the two sides of İstanbul: we plan the route from the Asian side in advance around the bridge restriction.

Silivri Municipality's main service building is at No. 3 Turgut Özal Boulevard, Alibey neighbourhood; the call centre is 444 20 47, with opening hours 08.30–12.30 and 13.00–17.00. Residents can submit requests and complaints through Beyaz Masa, the mobile app and e-municipality; the website does not list a separate WhatsApp line (source: Contact, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate is in the Government Building at No. 4 Müjdat Gürsu Avenue, Yeni Mahalle; its switchboard is 0212 727 10 01 (source: District Governorate contact, accessed 30.09.2026).
There is a separate municipal urban-renewal portal for people moving from risky buildings. It outlines 14 steps, from checking planning status and obtaining a report from a licensed organisation to a title-deed annotation, a 15-day notice at the muhtarlık, evacuation and a building permit. It says tenants may receive moving assistance equal to two months' rent and that applications are made to the municipality (source: Urban-renewal process, accessed 30.09.2026). İBB's page lists 32 approved 1:5,000 master-plan entries; a new plan stage for Alipaşa and Mimarsinan went on public display in 2026 (sources: Silivri risky-building planning-note amendment, Alipaşa and Mimarsinan master plan, accessed 30.09.2026).
Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published rule or fee on the municipality's website for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road (accessed 30.09.2026). The Municipal Police Directorate page and Orders and Prohibitions Regulation are available only as PDFs; neither describes a separate process for removals (sources: Municipal Police Directorate, Orders and Prohibitions Regulation, accessed 30.09.2026). On one-way streets in the old centre, it is best to ask on 444 20 47 before moving day.
Old furniture, rubble and waste collection days: the Cleaning Affairs Directorate page does not list collection days. The waste-management portal says large electrical and electronic items are collected from the door every Friday, with requests made on 444 20 47; bulky waste can be taken to the district's Class 1 Waste Collection Centre, but its address was not readable on the website. There are 27 mobile waste collection points across the district. No doorstep collection line for old furniture or rubble rules are published (sources: Cleaning Affairs Directorate, Waste-management FAQs, accessed 30.09.2026). We take away the boxes and packing materials left on moving day.
Public transport
Silivri has no rail system; it is not on Metro İstanbul's line list (source: Lines, accessed 30.09.2026). The municipality's Silivri page mentions three railway stations in Kurfallı, Çayırdere and Küçüksinekli, but we could not verify current services, so we do not give train information (source: Silivri, accessed 30.09.2026). There is no sea transport. İETT route 300 takes 92 minutes from Silivri to TÜYAP and route 303A takes 116 minutes to Avcılar Metrobüs; routes 300B/C/D/G/M connect surrounding neighbourhoods to TÜYAP (sources: İETT 300, İETT 303A, İETT 300M, accessed 30.09.2026). For long bus journeys, we plan the team and belongings around the same vehicle route.
