Şile removals
Moving in Şile follows the summer-house season: a seaside home in Kumbaba, a riverside guesthouse in Ağva and a village house among the woods in Kervansaray are all in the same district, but each needs its own route, timing and vehicle plan.
Our Şile removals service reaches İstanbul's extensive Black Sea district. The municipality lists 62 neighbourhoods; its environmental services page uses the older wording "five neighbourhoods and 57 villages" (sources: Muhtars and Environmental Cleaning Services, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate describes the area as hilly and wooded and notes that overland travel was difficult in ancient times (source: History, accessed 30.09.2026). Official websites do not publish area, population or a neighbouring-district list. On the map, its land neighbours are Beykoz, Çekmeköy and Pendik, with Kocaeli province across the eastern border (accessed 30.09.2026). The municipality places Ağva between two streams, 31 km from Şile centre, and lists eight beaches in the district (sources: Natural attractions and Şile beaches, accessed 30.09.2026).
The road journey from our Sancaktepe base to Şile is 37–84 km, with a free-flowing drive of 55–85 minutes. Esenceli is near the entrance, Şile centre is about 53 km away, and Çelebi is at the far end; we also allow for summer weekend return traffic (source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026).
Şile map: neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices, stations
The map shows the boundaries of all 62 neighbourhoods, muhtarlık offices and taxi ranks; there is no rail station within the district. The satellite view distinguishes the town centre, coastal estates, Ağva and villages among the woods.
Access profile, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
Categories are relative to Şile's own neighbourhoods. Average gradients are below 6% in 40 of the 62; the steepest average, 8.3%, is in Akçakese and Bozgoca. On moving day, distance, village roads and seasonal traffic matter more than slopes. One-way or narrow streets exceed 5% of the network in five neighbourhoods.

Computed on 2026-09-30 from OpenStreetMap streets, parking areas and buildings inside each neighbourhood; categories are relative to the other neighbourhoods of this district. Narrow = share of local street length that is one-way, under 5.5 m wide or single-lane. Slope = average street grade from the Copernicus DEM (30 m surface model; indicative). * station under construction (İBB).
We read the figures in six groups:
- Centre — Balibey, Hacı Kasım, Çavuş, Ahmetli, Kumbaba, Meşrutiyet and Çayırbaşı: buildings are concentrated in these neighbourhoods. Kumbaba has 1,028 buildings, Çavuş 923, Balibey 660 and Ahmetli 635; Çavuş has the longest local street network at 56 km. Gradients range from 1.6–7.0%, and steep-street shares from 3–46%. One-way or narrow streets account for 17% in Hacı Kasım and 0–6% elsewhere; mapped parking areas number 11 in Çavuş and 7 each in Balibey and Meşrutiyet. Floor data is available for Kumbaba (2 storeys on average) and Ahmetli (2.6). The municipality describes the Ahmetli campus road as steep (source: Ahmetli access-road announcement, accessed 30.09.2026). We load early to avoid waiting in the shopping area or summer Saturday traffic.
- Western coast and summer-house villages — Sahilköy, Doğancılı, Alacalı, Sofular, Kurna and Karakiraz: average gradients are 4.1–5.4%, with steep-street shares of 19–33%; no one-way or narrow streets are recorded. Sahilköy has 613 buildings, Doğancılı 581 and Alacalı 553; Sofular has 11. Mapped parking areas number 5, 10, 6 and 3 respectively. The municipality lists social facilities at the estates and a public car park in Alacalı (source: Assembly areas, accessed 30.09.2026). Floor data is unavailable; before moving, we confirm estate entry permission and where the lorry can turn on sandy ground.
- Eastern coast and beach villages — Kabakoz, Akçakese, İmrenli, Karacaköy, Bozgoca and Şuayipli: average gradients are 5.3–8.3%, with steep-street shares of 34–60%; Akçakese and Bozgoca have the highest average gradients, and Şuayipli the highest steep-street share. No one-way or narrow streets or parking areas are recorded. İmrenli has 499 buildings, Karacaköy 260 and Akçakese 166; Kabakoz has just 8 buildings beside 14.7 km of local streets. The municipality gives beach distances of 15 km for Kabakoz, 17 for Akçakese and 20 for İmrenli; Akçakese has a campsite, and İmrenli and Kabakoz have estates (sources: Şile beaches and Assembly areas, accessed 30.09.2026). Floor data is unavailable. Residents mention narrow sections; during the site visit, we consider leaving the lorry on the main road and transferring belongings in a smaller vehicle.
- Ağva and nearby — Ağva Merkez, Göçe, Kurfallı, İsaköy, Bucaklı, Kadıköy, Çelebi, Geredeli and Kalem: Ağva Merkez has a 2.5% average gradient, a 12% steep-street share, 360 buildings, 15.1 km of local streets and 3 mapped parking areas. In the eight surrounding neighbourhoods, gradients are 3.7–7.4% and steep-street shares 19–48%; Geredeli has 83 buildings and the others 1–12. No one-way or narrow streets are recorded; there is no mapped parking except in Bucaklı. Şile and Göçe streets were resurfaced in summer 2026; Göçe has TOKİ housing (sources: Ağva resurfacing announcement and Assembly areas, accessed 30.09.2026). Floor data is unavailable. For riverside venues, we plan outside business hours; in the villages, we check the turning space in advance.
- Şile road and south-west — Esenceli, Kervansaray, Kömürlük, Üvezli, Yeşilvadi, Satmazlı, Ulupelit, Avcıkoru, Bıçkıdere, Oruçoğlu, Erenler and Darlık: some 139T services run via Yeşilvadi, Satmazlı and Ahmetli (source: IETT 139T, accessed 30.09.2026). Gradients are 4.6–7.1%, with steep-street shares of 23–50%. Kervansaray is the largest neighbourhood at 39.4 km², with 126 buildings; Yeşilvadi has 44 and Kömürlük 34, while the others have 0–18. No parking areas are mapped. One-way or narrow streets account for 69% in Kömürlük (on 1.1 km of streets) and 11% in Kervansaray, and none elsewhere. Floor data is unavailable; on narrow, unpaved village roads, we identify a turning point for the lorry in advance.
- Inland villages, south and east of the centre — Teke, İmrendere, Kızılcaköy, Yeniköy, Hacıllı and nearby neighbourhoods: a belt of woodland and farmland covering 22 neighbourhoods. Gradients range from 3.8% in Gökmaşlı to 7.3% in Yeniköy; steep-street shares range from 21–52% (Hacıllı). Teke has 286 buildings, İmrendere 153 and Kızılcaköy 90; the other 19 neighbourhoods have 0–17. One-way or narrow streets account for 24% in Yeniköy and none elsewhere. Parking is mapped only in Kızılcaköy and Karamandere, with one area each. Floor data is available only for Yeniköy, averaging 1.5 storeys. Sources mention the Melen water-main site in İmrendere and Hacıllı waterfall (sources: Assembly areas and Natural attractions, accessed 30.09.2026). We confirm road surfaces and a lorry turning point during the site visit.
Summer season, coast and the road to Ağva
Moving plans in Şile change with the summer-house season. Ayazma is a public beach, and Uzunkum has held Blue Flag status since 2015; Kumbaba can be reached by raft or footpath (source: Şile beaches, accessed 30.09.2026). Residents describe busy beach entrances and heavy return traffic at weekends, so we schedule summer-house moves for weekdays or early morning. IETT 139A follows different inland roads between Şile and Ağva via Yeniköy, Sahil Yolu–İsaköy and Ovacık; we choose the lorry route during the site visit (source: IETT 139A, accessed 30.09.2026). The municipality lists unpaved-road maintenance, snow clearing, salting and emergency duty among its responsibilities; in winter, we confirm village-road conditions the day before (source: Road maintenance services, accessed 30.09.2026).
What residents say
Summaries of public community discussions, in our own words, with links to the source. These are residents' views, not our crew's notes; we add our own observations as we complete jobs here.
- Esenceli, Kervansaray
Posts say the road was widened from its formerly dangerous, winding form to a dual carriageway, but summer Sunday afternoons still bring hours of stop-start traffic towards İstanbul, with frequent fixed speed cameras along the route. Morning traffic towards Ömerli is also described as gridlocked.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: istanbul şile yolu (2026-05)
- Esenceli, Kervansaray
One driver describes numerous sharp bends and steep climbs between Paşaköy and Şile, with sharp bends at the end of each climb and dangerous acceleration on the descents. Another says almost a third of the road is now within built-up areas and the section through the forest has become shorter.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: istanbul şile yolu (2024-04 – 2024-11)
- Balibey, Çavuş, Hacı Kasım, Kumbaba
Residents and newcomers describe the district's seasonal character: the centre and coast are very busy on summer weekends, while most shops close and the shopping area is quiet in winter. Several writers say they planned to move there in early 2026 and were pleased by the calm winter weekends.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: şile (2025-12 – 2026-07)
- Ağva Merkez
Visitors describe heavy traffic and crowds of people on summer weekends due to day-trippers, but a quiet atmosphere on weekdays. The forest road down to Ağva is described as long, very winding and dark at night. One summer resident says old wooden village houses have been replaced by three-storey blocks with six shops, and a large concrete bus-terminal area was built in the pine-grove square.
several comments agree · ekşi sözlük: ağva (2025-07 – 2026-08)
- Kumbaba
One resident says Kumbaba sits at a lower level than Şile's shopping area, with muddy ground that forms puddles in the rain, despite having become a summer-house neighbourhood. Writers in 2023 and 2024 say they were considering a move there and describe it as the district's liveliest area.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: kumbaba (2016-10 – 2024-04)
- Kabakoz
One camper describes the beach as C-shaped and says the only private car park in the middle piled up sand to block access to nearby open areas, leaving the roadside as a place to park. Older posts say works for the Melen project and third-bridge link road damaged the streamside, and that construction of the Şile–Ağva road affected the village.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: kabakoz (2020-05 – 2021-09)
- Sahilköy, Doğancılı, Sofular, Karakiraz, Kurna
Posts describe Sahilköy as one of the villages in the Şile area with the largest summer population; day-trippers reportedly leave shops in neighbouring Doğancılı short of stock at weekends. Buses from Üsküdar are said to take two or three hours depending on traffic, and services marked Sahilköy loop through Karakiraz, Kurna, Sahilköy, Doğancılı and Sofular before returning to the main road.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: sahilköy (2016-09 – 2021-12)
- Sahilköy, Doğancılı, Kurna
One writer says strong northerly and north-westerly winds blow persistently because the village faces the open sea, while neighbouring Doğancılı and Kurna are more sheltered.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: sahilköy (2022-08 – 2023-08)
- Akçakese
Visitors mention a parking charge at the beach entrance on weekends, sections of the shore occupied by businesses and crowding. An older post says a villa estate on the right-hand side of the road down to the cove blocked its access road, claiming it was private property.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: akçakese (2019-03 – 2026-07)
- Doğancılı
One writer describes a large sandy area of dunes and an ATV trail in the neighbourhood, with visibility limited by the hills.
single opinion · ekşi sözlük: doğancılı (2025-04)
- Hacıllı
Campers say the village and waterfall are reached by very narrow roads after turning off the Şile–Ağva road. They describe two paths, one flat and long and the other short with ups and downs, and say even basic goods are limited at the village shop.
a few comments · ekşi sözlük: hacıllı (2014-04 – 2015-06)
- Alacalı
Older posts describe the village as divided between local residents on the inland side and summer-house residents by the coast. They say IETT buses have served the village for a long time and covered bus shelters were built.

The moves we see most in Şile
- Summer-house and coastal-home moves: at the start and end of the season in Kumbaba, Sahilköy, Doğancılı, Alacalı, İmrenli and Ağva; estate gates, sandy ground and weekend traffic all affect the plan.
- Village-house moves: garden homes in wooded villages from Kervansaray to Çelebi; the team and vehicle travel together, and we check road width and unpaved sections in advance.
- Single-person homes (1+1, studios): in the centre and Ağva; fewer belongings, a smaller vehicle and a two-person team.
- Family homes (2+1, 3+1): packing and dismantling in apartments in Kumbaba, Çavuş and Balibey; site rules at TOKİ housing in Ahmetli and Göçe.
- Offices, shops, hotels and guesthouses: businesses in the shopping area and riverside accommodation in Ağva; out-of-season and out-of-hours slots may be requested.
- Renewed buildings and storage: İBB's urban-renewal project list has no entry for Şile (source: İBB Urban Transformation, projects, accessed 30.09.2026). Even so, belongings may need to wait while a building is renewed or a summer house closes for winter; we plan the move and storage together.

Şile Municipality's main service building is at No. 69/A Atatürk Avenue, Balibey neighbourhood. Its Call Centre is 444 74 53. The White Desk is open weekdays 08.30–17.00 and weekends 09.30–16.00 on the ground floor. Residents can submit requests and enquiries through e-municipality and the website; no WhatsApp line or mobile app is mentioned on the site (sources: Şile Municipality contact and home page, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate is on the same avenue at No. 69/B, in the Government House; its switchboard is 0216 711 21 12 (source: Şile District Governorate contact, accessed 30.09.2026). The District Governorate does not publish a neighbourhood list; the figure of 62 comes from the municipality's muhtars page.
Permits for lorries and exterior lifts: we could not find a published rule or fee on the municipality's website for a moving vehicle or mobile lift temporarily using the road (accessed 30.09.2026). The Municipal Orders and Prohibitions Regulation, adopted by the council on 9 September 2026, was announced on the website on 23 September; the text is available only as an attachment, so we do not state a rule without reading and confirming it (source: Municipal Orders and Prohibitions announcement, accessed 30.09.2026). The filming-permit page says work that closes traffic on Üsküdar and Cumhuriyet avenues requires an application seven days in advance and is subject to a fee. Before loading that would narrow a road in the shopping area, it is best to ask the Municipal Police on 444 74 53, extensions 260–263 (source: Filming permit procedures, accessed 30.09.2026).
Old furniture, rubble and waste collection days: the Environmental Protection and Control Directorate says bulky waste and rubble are collected and taken to a disposal site for a fee set by a council decision; the page gives no application number, collection day or amount. Household waste is collected under İBB's waste plan, with packaging, batteries and textiles separated; no neighbourhood collection schedule is published. The Directorate is at No. 1 Atlas Çiçeği Street, Balibey, extensions 421–422 (source: Environmental Cleaning Services, accessed 30.09.2026). We take away the boxes and packing materials from moving day; during the site visit, we can remind you to apply for the municipality's paid service for old furniture.
Public transport
Şile has no rail service (source: Metro İstanbul, All lines, accessed 30.09.2026). IETT route 139 from Üsküdar to Şile takes 162 minutes, 139A from Üsküdar to Şile/Ağva 242 minutes, and 139T from Tepeüstü to Şile 140 minutes; all three use a tiered fare (sources: 139, 139A and 139T, accessed 30.09.2026). We could not find a Şile-specific heavy-vehicle restriction from KGM (accessed 30.09.2026). We choose the route and loading time in advance to avoid buses and lorries meeting on narrow village roads.
