Moving Between Cities in Türkiye: Step by Step

A long-distance move is about more than loading a vehicle. We plan your move between cities around both addresses, then agree each step from preparation to the checks at your new home.

How do you move between cities? Confirm the date, both addresses and belongings first, then plan the survey, packing, loading and delivery. Atasoy Nakliyat can start from photos or a video across all districts of İstanbul and provinces of Türkiye. If volume or access is unclear, ask us about a survey. A long-distance move, step by step

The date and both addresses

Share your preferred date and both addresses. The neighbourhood, building entrance and a place for the vehicle can shape the plan as much as the city and district. Tell us if handover of the new home is not confirmed so loading and delivery can be planned together. If your date is flexible, we can discuss options. For an address within İstanbul, see our home removals service.

A survey by photo, video or in person

Room videos and photos of larger belongings help us assess volume and spot special items. Include the floor and lift arrangements at both addresses, and note narrow stairs, difficult entrances or vehicle restrictions. If the images are not enough, we can discuss a survey. Mention a piano, safe, sensitive equipment or unusually large furniture. Our volume calculator gives an initial estimate, but does not replace a survey.

Packing and labels

We agree what needs packing and whether furniture needs dismantling. Fragile items and furniture surfaces are protected; boxes are labelled with their destination rooms and fittings stay with the relevant furniture. This helps us organise loading and placement. See our packing service. If you want cover, we can discuss insured removals when preparing the quote. It is arranged through partner insurers and depends on the policy terms.

Moving day and loading

Before we arrive, confirm access, lift use and a place for the vehicle with building management. We pack as agreed, load in a planned order and secure items for transport, considering what you will need first and where furniture belongs. Keep identity documents, medicines and everyday essentials separate. Share the contact details of the move coordinator and anyone meeting us at either address.

The journey

We plan the vehicle and driver around volume, both addresses and the moving date. The driver's rest, weather and road conditions all matter on a long journey. Traffic, roadworks and changing weather can affect plans, so we do not promise an arrival time. We discuss loading and delivery in the quote and keep you informed if the plan changes.

Delivery and checks

We place labelled boxes in their destination rooms and position furniture we have agreed to reassemble. Check the delivery with us as items come off the vehicle, and report visible damage or missing items to the team. Any arranged cover follows the policy terms. Labels help you unpack essentials first.

Your first day in the new city

Add your change-of-address notification and utility and internet connections to your plan. Ask the local muhtarlık, the neighbourhood headman's office, about registering your residence. Confirm keys, meters and access with your landlord or building management. If the home is not ready, discuss our storage options. Follow preparations with our moving checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an in-person survey for a long-distance move?

Not every move needs an in-person survey. Photos or room videos, with floor and lift details for both addresses, may be enough. If volume, access or special items are unclear, we will ask for more information or discuss a survey. A clear inventory helps define the quote.

How will my belongings be protected during the journey?

We pack items according to their type and secure them in the vehicle. Tell us about fragile or sensitive belongings so we can plan suitable packing. If you want cover, we can discuss it when preparing the quote; it is arranged through partner insurers and subject to the policy terms.

Do I need to be at the new address for delivery?

It helps to have someone there to show the team where belongings should go. If you cannot attend, choose someone you trust and share their details, box labels and placement notes in advance.

Can you store my belongings if my new home is not ready?

We can discuss storage as part of the quote. Tell us when the home is expected to be ready, which belongings need storing and where they will be collected. See our storage page for details.

Where to next?

Tell us where from, where to and when. A few photos are usually enough for a quote.
