How Removal Prices Are Calculated
The cost of a move is not determined by the size of your home or destination alone. We consider the volume of your belongings, access at both properties and the services you need. This guide explains how we prepare a removals quote and how to compare offers fairly.
Home removals prices depend on the belongings and conditions at both addresses. Similar homes can have different furniture and packing needs, so we discuss the work involved rather than rely on one measure. Before asking for a quote, read about home removals and use the volume calculator for an initial estimate.
How are removal prices calculated?
We calculate a removals quote by considering the belongings and practical conditions together. Volume, home layout, furniture to dismantle, packing and access at both properties all shape the plan. The calculator gives an initial estimate; photos, video or a survey can help us plan more accurately.
The floor, lift, staircase, entrances and vehicle access matter too. If the lift is unsuitable, we can discuss an exterior lift. Crossing the Bosphorus, local travel and moving between cities each affect the plan differently.
Packing, furniture assembly, special items such as a piano or safe, the date and season are also considered. Mention any storage need so the quote reflects the work involved. Read about exterior lift removals, packing services and insured removals; cover is arranged subject to the policy terms.
Why can quotes from different firms vary?
Comparing totals can mislead when quotes describe different work. One firm may include transport only, while another includes packing or assembly. The survey, inventory, access, team and vehicle plan can all change the scope.
A difference alone does not show which service is better. Ask what is included, what you need to prepare and how changes to the address or inventory affect the quote. An estimate without seeing the belongings may not reflect your move. Photos or video help both sides discuss the same job.
How to compare quotes fairly
Give each firm the same addresses, inventory, date and service requests. Check whether the quote sets out:
- The belongings to be moved and the work included
- Which items will be packed, dismantled and reassembled
- Whether floors, lift arrangements and building access at both properties have been considered
- How special items, an exterior lift or storage will be handled
- The loading and delivery arrangements, and what happens if an address or the inventory changes
- If cover is requested, that it will be arranged through a partner insurer and is subject to the policy terms
Check that the written scope matches your expectations, not just the total. Ask about unclear items before deciding so each offer can be compared against the same plan.
How can you reduce the cost of your move?
Set aside belongings you will not take; a clear inventory makes volume easier to assess. If you plan to pack small, non-fragile items yourself, discuss it in advance and agree how larger furniture and delicate items will be packed.
Share floor and lift details, vehicle access and building rules for both addresses to help avoid last-minute changes. Tell us if your date is flexible, and mention storage, assembly or an exterior lift from the outset. The aim is to leave out services you do not need, not work necessary for the move.
Frequently asked questions
Are photos enough to prepare a quote?
Photos or room video help us assess volume and larger items. Share floor, lift and entrance details too. If anything is unclear, we may ask for more information or discuss a survey. The calculator is an initial guide, not the moving plan itself.
What if the inventory or address changes?
We use your inventory and access details to prepare the quote. Tell us if belongings or access change before moving day so we can review the loading or delivery plan and confirm the scope.
Are packing and furniture assembly included?
The quote should state these services according to your belongings and request. Tell us what needs wrapping or dismantling and reassembly, and whether you will pack small personal items. Agree unclear details before moving day.
Is insurance included in the removals quote?
Atasoy Nakliyat does not sell insurance. On request, we arrange cover through partner insurers, subject to the policy terms. Discuss inventory or declared-value information when preparing the quote. Report any delivery issue to the team and follow the policy's notification steps.
Where to next?
Tell us where from, where to and when. A few photos are usually enough for a quote.
